The Committee Support Department (STAB-GB) including the Supervisory Board Office (GS AR) support KIT’s leadership and decision-making structures through strategic committee management, making a significant contribution to institutional governance. By supporting the central governing bodies, namely the Supervisory Board, the KIT Senate, and the Executive Board (Plus), as well as various committees and commissions, the department ensures transparent, efficient, and legally compliant decision-making processes and thereby contributes to KIT’s strategic development. Furthermore, it drives the continuous modernization of committee work, helping to adapt processes, tools, and working methods to the evolving needs of a high-performing scientific organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing substantive and organizational support to KIT’s central governing bodies.
- Advising chairs, committee members, their offices, and KIT staff on matters relating to committee operations and decision-making processes within KIT’s governance framework.
- Planning, coordinating, and facilitating meetings, including the preparation and management of agendas, meeting documents, and follow-up of resolutions.
- Safeguarding the quality of decision-making materials through review, coordination, and preparation of meeting documents.
- Maintaining transparency and organizational knowledge by documenting, tracking, and archiving committee resolutions.
- Maintaining and further developing central information and documentation platforms.
- Conceptualizing, digitalizing, and continuously optimizing committee processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and user-friendliness.
In addition, STAB-GB and the GS AR support the selection processes for members of the Executive Board and Heads of Divisions at KIT, from the establishment of search committees through to the final election. They provide organizational and procedural support, ensure compliance with established regulations and standards, and contribute to transparent, efficient, and high-quality appointment processes.
STAB-GB and the GS AR provide the foundation for effective institutional governance and strategic development, thereby strengthening the capacity of KIT’s academic self-governance and leadership bodies to act.
