PartiKomp (Success conditions and effectiveness of student participation in higher education institutions)
PartiKomp generates generalizable results on the types, effects, and framework conditions of successful student participation. From a competency-oriented perspective, it investigates which key competencies are fostered by which participation formats and to what extent the ability to participate in processes and decisions itself constitutes a key competency. This is complemented by an institutional-theoretical perspective that considers universities as social entities with a guiding character and examines which structural framework conditions must exist to best support student competency development and fulfill the responsibility of empowering students to act freely and autonomously within the framework of a democratic, social, and constitutional constitution. The findings are obtained using a mixed-methods design, employing surveys, diary methods, and various, sometimes co-creative, interview techniques. A guide with practical examples for the curricular recognition and appreciation of student participation is being developed. This guide can be used for the strategic orientation of universities, as well as for the development of courses, modules, and degree programs, and in quality management and accreditation processes. By researching key competencies that students develop through participation and comparing them with theoretical competency models, a fundamental contribution to key competency research is being made, providing guidance for the empirically supported development of interdisciplinary educational offerings. A workshop concept will contribute to the dissemination of the results beyond academia. The resulting data corpus, containing key information on the participation landscape at German universities, will be available for further research and application projects after the project's completion.
